Palace courtyards, lively neighborhoods, and time for a good meal—here’s a Seoul itinerary that leaves room to breathe.

A morning at Gyeongbokgung Palace, an afternoon among Seochon’s small shops, and another day for Hongdae’s energy: Seoul offers plenty of contrasts. You don’t need to squeeze them into one day. Korea Tourism Organization’s Seochon guide makes a good starting point for exploring the area beside the palace.

For five days and four nights, choose one hotel base and plan around your actual flights. Arrival and departure may be partial days, leaving roughly three full days to enjoy the city.

Who this trip suits

A Seoul-only break works well for first-time Korea travelers, friends, and couples who want culture, food, shopping, and unstructured time. Families can follow the same outline with fewer stops. If anyone in your group has limited mobility, ask for a hotel and transport plan suited to them; a short distance on a map does not always mean an easy walk.

A five-day Seoul outline

  1. Arrival: Transfer to your hotel, settle in, and eat near your base. Keep the evening flexible until your flight and transfer details are confirmed.
  2. Palace and old streets: Give Gyeongbokgung Palace the morning, then slow down around nearby Seochon. Check the palace’s current opening days before fixing this day in your itinerary.
  3. Contemporary Seoul: Explore Hongdae’s shops, cafés, and street culture. Leave the later afternoon open for a special interest, a rest, or a longer meal.
  4. Make it yours: Choose one anchor rather than several distant stops. Consider the Seoul Museum of Craft Art, time at Yeouido Hangang Park, or a shopping-focused day.
  5. Departure: Keep the last morning light and allow a realistic airport-transfer buffer based on your airport, flight time, luggage, and hotel location.

With only three nights, keep the palace day and one contemporary-Seoul day instead of squeezing in another city. With a week or more, you can discuss a second base or a day trip once the Seoul portion feels comfortable.

Before you request a quote

For getting around, VisitKorea lists several transport-card options. Which one suits you depends on your actual routes. Spring and autumn are generally milder for walking; summer can be hot and humid, while winter calls for a cold-weather plan. Check conditions for your dates.

Philippine passport holders should consult the Korean Embassy in the Philippines’ Visa Requirements section and open the latest tourist-visa (C-3-9) guidance before committing to nonrefundable plans. Requirements can change, and an itinerary or agency inquiry does not guarantee a visa. Other passport holders should check the rules that apply to them.

When comparing offers, ask whether airfare, baggage, airport transfers, hotel location and room type, breakfast, admissions, travel insurance, and guided activities are included. Prices and availability depend on dates, group size, room sharing, and supplier confirmation. Our Seoul City Discovery package is a conversation starter, not a promise of live inventory.
